Day 1: Cusco - Trail (Mollepata - Cruz Pata - Soraypampa)

  • Around 5:00, departure from Cusco to Mollepata village where we will arrive around 9:00 and have breakfast.
  • We will then load horses with our equipment to begin the Trek to Cruz Pata where we will arrive at 12:00 and have lunch. Later, we will continue walking to Soraypampa at 12631 ft (3850 m) where we will arrive at 17:30.
  • Dinner and first campsite.

Day 2: Trail (Soraypampa - Salcantay - Huayrac Pampa - Chaullay)

  • Around 7:00, after breakfast, we will begin the most difficult part of the Trek, walking through the site known as Pampa Salcantay. We will then take the left side of the glacier Umantay located beside the glacier Salcantay. Around noon, we will be at the highest point, Salcantay Umantay at 14763 ft (4500 m). We were watch the Salcantay glaciers and after an hour of rest we will have lunch in the area called Huayrac Pampa.
  • We will then continue walking down for 4 hours to Chaullay located at 9514 ft (2900 m) where we will set the camp for the seconde night.

Day 3: Trail (Chaullay - La Playa - Santa Teresa)

  • After breakfast, around 7:00, we will begin a 5-hour walk. On the way, we will go through the village called Collpabamba located in the rainforest area. We will see waterfalls and a wide variety of plants and flowers before arriving to the area called La Playa where we will have lunch.
  • Later, we will walk for about 2 hours until we get to the camping area at Santa Teresa at 5413 ft (1650 m). You can go to the thermal baths and rest all the evening.
  • Dinner and night at the camp.

Day 4: Trail (Santa Teresa) - Hydroelectric Central - Aguas Calientes

  • Around 8:00, we will begin a one hour walk to the "Oroya" (hanging cables system to cross the river). On the way we will see Machu Picchu far away for the first time. After crossing the river, we will walk for one more hour to get to the Hydrolelectric Central were we will rest and have lunch.
  • In the afternoon, we will take the 15:10 train to Aguas Calientes where we will arrive at 16:00.
  • Night at the hotel.

    Included meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

  • In the morning, we will have a guided tour of the citadel of Machu Picchu (about 2 hours 30) visiting the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries.
  • Free time to stroll around the citadel or to visit for free the Wayna Picchu. Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • In the afternoon, at 15:30 or 16:00 depending on train category, return to Cusco by train. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
